Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in Journal of Homeland Security and Emergency Management provided he or she owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the article. Authors are the initial owners of the copyrights to their works (an exception in the non-academic world to this might exist if the authors have, as a condition of employment, agreed to transfer copyright to their employer).

Journal of Homeland Security

Submission:

Authors may submit a one-page synopsis for review and comment. Completed works ranging from 2,000 - 5,000 words in length may also be submitted and should consist of an original copy of all manuscripts, a 150-word abstract, a 100-word biographical statement, a photo (color preferred) and suggested web links for the article. Authors are encouraged to supply relevant artwork (charts, diagrams and maps) with their work. The author is responsible for obtaining permission to publish any copyrighted material. Previously published works will also be considered providing reprint permission is secured. Book reviews should be limited to 1,500 words and commentaries to 1,000 words. Submissions for the Science and Technology section should be between 1,000-3,000 words. All accepted manuscripts are edited for adherence to Journal format and style, clarity, succinctness, syntax and punctuation.

Aims & Scope:

Low Intensity Conflict & Law Enforcement addresses a range of military, security, and law enforcement issues associated with conflict short of general war. More specifically, journal articles and features assess insurgency and counter-insurgency concepts and operations; the transnational threats of narcotics trafficking and terrorism in their many dimensions; peacekeeping and peacemaking operations; security assistance, disaster relief, and civil affairs programmes; special operations; and other security issues falling under the rubric of low intensity conflict.
