Foreign Study Program
In the fall of 2005, the
Lauder School of Government and
Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) at the
Interdisciplinary Center (IDC), Herzliya, Israel entered an agreement with the
Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and INSCT to
promote collaborative activities in counter-terrorism and
conflict resolution through joint faculty research projects
and the development of educational programs, including
faculty and student exchange programs.
The
program is open to graduate students pursuing a range of graduate
degrees, including international relations, public administration,
law, political science, and history. Students will
participate in ICT's Counter-Terrorism Studies Program - a three-week
executive education certificate program composed of six courses that
combine academic study, simulations, workshops, and on-site briefings.
Information about the Institute for Counterterrorism (ICT) and its Counter-Terrorism Studies Program is available at http://www.ict.org.il Students may opt to conduct independent research on a topic related to security or counter-terrorism under the supervision of a SU faculty member and an ICT faculty member or researcher and/or serve as an intern for ICT faculty members or researchers. Academic credit (either independent research credit or experience/internship credit) may be earned for the above work depending on the requirements of the student’s degree program.
In 2009, INSCT expanded the program through a partnership with Al Quds University in Jerursalem. Students attended a two-day workshop led by renowned Palestinian scholars from July 22-23, 2009. The lectures and discussions highlighted various topics including, “Public Health in Palestine,” “Negotiation Techniques in Arab-Israeli Context” and “Jerusalem: An impediment or key to the Peace”.
